On Friday April 12 at 10:00 a.m., the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Social Sciences, The University of the West Indies. St. Augustine, will host a virtual Constitutional Reform forum themed “Revisiting Constitutional Reform in Trinidad and Tobago”.
The forum is a response to the recent call by the Government of Trinidad and Tobago for contributions on Constitutional Reform and is strictly solutions oriented. It features proposed measures and legislation from a distinguished panel of experts. Panellists include:
- The Honourable Farley Chavez Augustine – Chief Secretary and Secretary of Finance, Trade and the Economy, Tobago House of Assembly.
- Professor Hamid Ghany – CMTT; Professor of Constitutional Affairs and Parliamentary Studies; Honorary Professor, SALISES, UWI, St. Augustine.
- Dr. Kusha Haraksingh, Former Head of Department; Former Senior Lecturer, Department of History; Former Dean, Faculty of Law, UWI, St. Augustine.
- Dr. Indira Rampersad – Head of Department; Lecturer, Political Science/International Relations, Department of Political Science; UWI, St. Augustine.
- Dr Timothy Affonso – Lecturer in Law; Deputy Dean, Faculty of Law, UWI, St. Augustine.
- Dr. Maukesh Basdeo – Lecturer, Political Science; Coordinator, Constitutional Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs Unit, Department of Political Science, UWI, St. Augustine.
The forum will be chaired and moderated by Dr. Marlene Attzs, Lecturer, Department of Economics, UWI, St. Augustine.
