The University of the West Indies in collaboration with the Global Sepsis Alliance presents the Launch of the Caribbean Sepsis Alliance Sunday, May 26 from 9.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. at the Amphitheatre D, School of Dentistry, Faculty of Medical Sciences, Mount Hope.
Sepsis arises when the body’s response to an infection injures its own tissues and organs. It may lead to shock, multi-organ failure, and death – especially if not recognized early and treated promptly. Sepsis is the final common pathway to death from most infectious diseases worldwide, including viruses such as SARS-CoV-2.
This event's feature speaker is Dr Niranjan “Tex” Kissoon, President of the Global Sepsis Alliance and co-chair of World Sepsis Day and the International Pediatric Sepsis Initiative.
