Discussion: Exploring the Interconnection between Researchers & Policymakers in Trinidad and Tobago

On Friday, June 28, from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., at the Amphitheatre D, Faculty of Medical Sciences, EWMSC, Mt. Hope, the Caribbean Centre for Health Systems Research and Development (CCHSRD) under the Faculty of Medical Sciences and its collaborators are hosting a panel discussion. This initiative’s purpose is to pilot the World Health Organisation’s checklist for institutionalizing Evidence-Informed Policymaking (EIPM) in Trinidad and Tobago.

It aims to assess the current evidence ecosystem, identify key actions for institutionalization, and refine the tool based on stakeholder feedback. Attendees are expected to gain an increased awareness of gaps in evidence use in policymaking, a shared understanding of research evidence's role, and collaborative efforts to implement recommendations for improving the EIPM evidence ecosystem.
