TEDU Virtual Seminar: Tobago's Labour Market Realities and Forex Earning Potential

Event Date(s): 26/07/2024

Location: Online

The Trade and Economic Development Unit (TEDU) continues its National Conversations series on Friday, July 26 with a Virtual Seminar on the topic Tobago's Labour Market Realities and Forex Earning Potential. This online event will begin at 7 p.m. and focus on sharing perspectives on Tobago’s labour market.

Tobago's labour market faces unique challenges and opportunities shaped by its small island economy. Key sectors such as tourism, fishing, and agriculture dominate employment, but there is a pressing need for diversification to ensure economic resilience. The island's forex earning potential is significantly aligned to its tourism industry, which attracts international visitors and generates foreign exchange.

Former UWI Principal and former Minister of Planning Dr. Bhoendradatt Tewarie, will moderate the discussion.

Speakers include:

-          Dr. Vanus James (Economist)

-          Mr. Kenneth Bisson
