The foreword of her book was written by Nigel Baptiste – President RFHL and reads “"While ESG traditionally emphasized environmental and governance factors, the growing prominence of the “S” factor, representing social justice, is becoming vital. This shift extends beyond mere philanthropy to proactively addressing issues like income inequality, diversity, and labor practices, and also aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Neglecting these areas can harm a company’s reputation and long-term success. Strategies for integrating social justice into corporate culture, setting measurable goals, and stakeholder engagement are discussed, highlighting the alignment of social justice with business objectives. This book by international management consultant and former UN Ambassador- Therese Baptiste, also showcases case studies from companies like Apple and Unilever, as it advocates for standardized reporting frameworks to ensure transparency and accountability. Ultimately, integrating social justice into ESG is crucial for sustainable business practices and requires proactive leadership to drive positive societal impact alongside business success.
