Location: Online

The Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies is hosting a virtual webinar entitled, ‘On the Road to COP29: Navigating the Climate Finance Landscape for Caribbean SIDS’, happening on Wednesday, October 30 2024 from 10:00 a.m. via Zoom.

Caribbean Small Island Developing States (SIDS) face a pressing climate crisis, characterized by rising sea levels, extreme weather events, and coastal erosion. To address these existential threats and build resilience, SIDS require significant investments in adaptation and mitigation measures. Climate finance is essential to support these efforts, providing the necessary resources for implementing sustainable development strategies. This webinar will delve into the diverse sources of climate finance available to SIDS, explore strategies for accessing these funds, and showcase successful examples of climate-resilient projects in the region. By understanding the opportunities and challenges associated with climate finance, SIDS can better position themselves to navigate the complexities of climate change and secure a sustainable future.

The objective of the webinar is to provide Caribbean SIDS academics, policy makers and wider community with information on climate finance. The webinar will discuss different sources of climate finance, strategies for accessing these funds, and successful examples of climate-resilient projects. This information will help SIDS better understand the opportunities and challenges associated with climate finance and navigate the complexities of climate change.
