On Tuesday, November 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., SALISES will be hosting a webinar entitled “It’s Not Just a Job!: Disability, Equity & Inclusion and Persons with Disabilities in the Workplace.”
The event is in commemoration of International Day of Persons with Disabilities facilitated by the Disability Studies Research Cluster via SALISES.
The International Day of Persons with Disabilities, celebrated annually on December 03, aims to promote the rights and wellbeing of persons with disabilities in all aspects of society. Persons with disabilities however continue to be denied many basic rights including the right to decent work.
Research by the Disability Studies Research Cluster reveals workplace discrimination owing to misunderstandings about disability, persons with disabilities, and workplace accommodations. Against this backdrop, the event aims to educate about employment considerations when hiring persons with disabilities in the context of diversity, equity and inclusion as well as good industrial relations practices.
