Institute of International Relations - Crime Reduction and Prevention Symposium

On Thursday, February 13, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at the Daaga Auditorium, The Institute of International Relations at The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus, in collaboration with the Trinidad and Tobago Private Security Association, and The Greater Tunapuna Chamber of Industry and Commerce, is hosting a FREE Symposium on the subject "Towards Improved Public Security: Crime Reduction and Prevention Through the Lenses of the Private Security Industry and Law Enforcement Agencies in Trinidad and Tobago" that is based on the empirical research project on the subject jointly conducted by IIR Faculty, Dr. Michał Pawiński and Dr. Annita Montoute. 

In light of the rising concerns regarding public security, this event presents an invaluable opportunity for the private security industry, private sector, law enforcement, and government stakeholders to come together to share insights and discuss how to foster a collaborative environment to enhance security in Trinidad and Tobago. Scheduled to speak at this event are a representative from the Ministry of National Security; Professor Derek Chadee, Deputy Principal of The UWI, St Augustine Campus;  Mr. Carlos Neptune, President of the Trinidad and Tobago Private Security Association; Mr. Michael Grant, Vice-President, Tunapuna Chamber of industry and Commerce; and Dr. Annita Montoute, Acting Director of The Institute of International Relations.

·         Mr. Nirad Tewarie, Chief Executive Officer, AMCHAM T&T

·         John Mario Aboud, Financial Director, Amalgamated Security Services Limited (ASSL)
