Event Date(s): 27/03/2025
Location: Daaga Auditorium
Public opinion is that this year’s carnival was enjoyable, powered in no small part by the musical contributions from a wide variety of artists. Notably, some of the most popular songs came from new artists, who crossed over to calypso and soca from other genres. Their presence not only shows that the traditional ways of entering the carnival space are changing, but also that the new genres of music are changing the sonic landscape.
To obtain a better understanding of how these new artists charted their journey to carnival, and how they view the music scene, The Department of Literary, Cultural and Communication Studies will host a discussion with the artists Yung Bredda, Squeezy Rankin and Lady Lava on March 27th, 2025, at the Daaga Auditorium, The UWI St. Augustine Campus from 5-7 p.m.
The audience is being asked to pre-register and to be seated by 4.45 p.m.
Entrance is open and free to the public.
