The Human Resources Division is pleased to invite all cleaning and janitorial staff to participate in the Custodial and Sanitation Training (CAST) Programme – a targeted initiative designed to enhance service excellence across our campus facilities. CAST equips cleaning personnel with the knowledge, skills and standards needed to maintain a safe, hygienic and presentable university environment. The programme promotes professionalism, workplace safety and care of the physical environment, while fostering a culture of institutional pride.
Course Title: Food Safety and Hygiene in the Workplace
Objective: To train cleaning staff on maintaining hygiene in areas where food is prepared, served, or consumed. Target Participants: All custodial/janitorial staff, including Grades 1, 2, 8 & 9 Cleaner; Labourer & Handyman (who clean); Office Attendant/Cleaner; Lab Assistant & Workshop Attendant (who clean).
Workshop Dates & Time: All cleaning personnel are invited to attend one of the five scheduled workshops, each from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.:
Venue: CLL Building, ICT Lecture Room (room number will be provided to confirmed participants).
What You Will Gain:
- Food Safety Concepts: Awareness of food safety principles and hygiene measures in food handling.
- Contamination Identification: Ability to recognize potential contamination sources and proactively address hazards.
- Bacterial Growth Control (FAT TOM): Apply knowledge to monitor and maintain safe food environments.
- Hygiene & Sanitization Techniques: Consistently practice proper personal hygiene and sanitation to prevent cross-contamination.
- Food Storage & Cooking Practices: Regularly evaluate and maintain safe storage and cooking conditions.

Certification: Participants will receive a Certificate of Participation upon successful completion.
Important Notes:
- Interested employees must enrol online and obtain approval from their Head of Department by September 12, 2025.
- Only staff with approval from both their Head of Department and the Human Resources Division may attend. Approved participants will receive a ‘Successful Enrolment Status’ email. Attendance without this confirmation is not permitted.
- Participants are required to attend only one workshop. The assigned session and date will be confirmed after successful registration.
