Event Date(s): 07/10/2025 - 10/10/2025

The School for Graduate Studies and Research (SGSR) at The University of the West Indies (UWI) invites you to participate in its Professional Development Workshop on “Fundamental Principles for Writing Policies and Procedures,” taking place online from October 7–10, 2025. This training is designed to equip participants with the essential skills and techniques for crafting clear, effective and enforceable policies and procedures.

Workshop Description

Policies are concrete tools that express the values and principles of an organisation and set the tone for its operations. The importance of well-written policies cannot be overstated.

Good policies are relevant, accurate, clear, and enforceable. Their language and structure must enable both decision-makers and beneficiaries to utilise them effectively. Thus, policy writing is a skill.

This workshop will provide a solid foundation for advancing participants’ knowledge and skills in the structural and textual components of policy documents, guiding them through the entire policy-writing process.

Objective

Participants will be able to develop policy and procedures within relevant legal frameworks.
