WOW 2026 Seminar & Launch: The Career Blueprint: Design. Build. Thrive

The University of the West Indies, in partnership with Republic Bank Limited, invites final-year students and specially invited guests to the WOW 2026 Seminar and Launch. This flagship career development initiative, now in its 20th year, is designed to equip students with the practical skills, insights and confidence needed to successfully navigate the world of work. Through an engaging series of workshops, interactive sessions and networking opportunities, participants will explore how to intentionally design, strategically build and confidently thrive in their professional journeys.

About the Theme

·         DESIGN. ‘Design with intention’ (Who am I?) Students are encouraged to assess, plan and shape their professional identity. This is the exploratory phase, where the focus is on preparing the necessary tools for successful job hunting. These include assessing their skills and competencies using the competency tracker, crafting a compelling resume, perfecting their interview preparedness, and exploring independent pathways within the entrepreneurial landscape.

Aligned Events: Seminar & Launch, Resume Writing Workshop, Interview Preparation

·         BUILD.‘ Build with Purpose’ (What do I bring to the Table?) Through skills-based workshops and practical experiences, students apply the knowledge they obtained in the design phase to build a solid foundation. The focus of this phase is on recognizing the ‘self’ as a brand and applying the learnings from Phase One to position it effectively. The Mock Interview is critical to this phase and demonstrates the brand articulation. In this phase, students also engage in relationship-building through networking and establishing their digital identities.

·         THRIVE. ‘Thrive with confidence’ (Prepare to flourish/Brand Affinity) This final phase promotes readiness, adaptability, and confidence in the face of real-world opportunities. In this phase, participants are strategically focused on sharing their value proposition, attracting the target audience (employers/recruiters). In this space, hard and soft skills work together to create brand affinity.
