 The Pre-Research Festival Virtual Workshop: “Research in Statistics and Data Science” will be held online via Zoom on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. The session is hosted by The School for Graduate Studies and Research, The UWI St. Augustine, in collaboration with the University Office of Planning. Led by Prof. Milan Stehlik, global leader in statistics and data science and founding Editor-in-Chief of Research in Statistics, this workshop will explore how publishing in these fields can drive meaningful change across disciplines.
 
Participants will gain insight into applying statistical and data-driven methods to strengthen research and achieve greater impact.
 
The session will cover how to:
- Publish multidisciplinary research in leading journals, including Research in Statistics
- Strengthen research using practical, real-world data tools
- Enhance research-driven approaches that support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
-Navigate key ethical and professional challenges in publishing and education
- Connect data science and statistics to real-world impact
 
About the Speaker
Prof. Milan Stehlik is Professor of Statistics at the University of Valparaíso, Chile, and Associate Editor of several international journals. A global leader in data science education, his research spans artificial intelligence, machine learning, and optimal design in education, medicine, ecology, and economics. He has authored more than 230 scientific articles and delivered over 250 scientific talks worldwide.

Educators, researchers, students and professionals across disciplines including science, technology, engineering, education, social sciences, medicine, agriculture, law and sport who use data science or statistics in their work.
