Island Innovators: Mathematics Powering the Future
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), will host the UWI Math Fair 2026 on Thursday, 5 February 2026, bringing together secondary school students, teachers, and the wider university community for a dynamic celebration of Mathematics and its real-world applications.

- Time: 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
- Venue: JFK Auditorium, JFK Lecture Theatre, JFK Quadrangle, Engineering Lecture Theatre 1 & LRC Greens
- Format: Formal opening ceremony followed by informal activities and events

About the UWI Math Fair
First launched in 2018, the UWI Math Fair has grown into a flagship outreach event for the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Following successful in-person and virtual editions, recent fairs have seen record-breaking attendance, reflecting growing interest in Mathematics and its applications.
Purpose and Objectives
The UWI Math Fair aims to spark interest in Mathematics among secondary school students by:
- Presenting Mathematics in engaging and interactive ways through puzzles and logic games
- Demonstrating real-life applications of Mathematics
- Highlighting academic programmes and research opportunities within FST
