The School of Veterinary Medicine, Faculty of Medical Sciences, The University of the West Indies (UWI), will host the 4th Joint AITVM–STVM Meeting from June 23–26, 2026, at the UWI St. Augustine Campus, UWI Inn and Conference Centre.

Convening under the theme “Resilient Futures in Tropical Veterinary Medicine,” this international conference will bring together leading experts dedicated to advancing animal, human, and environmental health through a One Health approach. As the 16th Biennial Meeting of the Society for Tropical Veterinary Medicine (STVM), the event will welcome researchers, veterinarians, ecologists, policymakers, and students from more than 40 countries, fostering a global exchange of ideas and solutions for challenges facing tropical and subtropical regions.

The conference is expected to attract over 200 participants, including veterinary students, veterinarians, medical doctors, public health and environmental health practitioners, and researchers from across the Caribbean and the wider global tropics. Participants will engage in discussions on innovative strategies to strengthen resilience in animal and human health systems.

A dynamic programme will explore key sub-themes including:

-         One Health and Vector-Borne Diseases

-         Pandemic Preparedness and Zoonotic Diseases

-         Wildlife Health and Food Security

-         Animal Welfare and Transboundary Animal Diseases

-         Small Animal Diagnostics, Infectious Diseases, and Emergency Medicine

-         Nutrition, Poultry Health, and Antimicrobial Resistance

-         Disaster Preparedness, Biosecurity, and Climate Change

-         Veterinary Education and Surgical Approaches

This three-day meeting provides an intimate and collaborative environment for networking, mentorship, and professional development, particularly benefiting early- and mid-career professionals. It also offers valuable opportunities for policymakers, industry partners, and regional and international organizations to deepen engagement, explore problem-solving mechanisms, and advance institutional goals.
