Event Date(s): 05/05/2026 - 07/05/2026
Professor Elizabeth Walcott-Hackshaw, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Education at The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, in collaboration with Professor Martin Munro, Director of the Winthrop-King Institute at Florida State University, is pleased to announce the upcoming international conference, Where Oceans Join from May 5 to May 7, 2026 at the UWI, St. Augustine.
This dynamic gathering will bring together scholars, practitioners, activists, scientists, artists, writers and members of the public to explore Caribbean-centered approaches to the urgent environmental challenges facing the region. In the spirit of collective creativity and regional solidarity, the conference seeks to imagine new ecological futures through the lens of Caribbean landscapes, seascapes, and archipelagic connections—meeting, as Édouard Glissant envisioned, “where the oceans join.”
