The Department of Creative and Festival Arts (DCFA), Faculty of Humanities and Education (FHE), invites the public to experience The Old Yard, its annual traditional masquerade showcase, on Sunday, February 08, 2026, from 12:00 noon to 6:00 pm at the Department of Creative and Festival Arts, Gordon Street, St. Augustine. This special edition forms part of DCFA’s 40th Anniversary (Legacy Year) Celebrations.
Set within the DCFA’s recreated “Gayelle”, transformed into an architectural space evocative of times long past, The Old Yard offers a vibrant, immersive journey into the cultural history of Trinidad and Tobago. Audiences will encounter powerful portrayals of traditional Carnival characters, including Gorillas, Moko Jumbies, Blue Devils, Jab Jabs, and more—bringing the old yard vividly to life.
- Stick Fighting Performance: Keegan Taylor-Bois — presented as a powerful, performative cultural tradition
- Vocal Performance Highlight: An extempo-style clash featuring Winston “Gypsy” Peters and Myron Bruce
- Featured Performer: Ronnie McIntosh — celebrating a distinguished 40-year career, in honour of DCFA’s 40th anniversary
- Cultural Showcase: Traditional masquerade characters and live demonstrations
