Event Date(s): 11/03/2026
Faculty are invited to attend an orientation session introducing The UWI Artificial Intelligence Policy Framework on March 11, 2026 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. via Zoom to learn about the strategic roadmap designed to guide the responsible and effective integration of artificial intelligence across teaching, learning and research.
This session will explore the Framework’s seven critical operational areas, including:
- Maintaining academic integrity
- Fostering learning and adaptation
- Driving research innovation
- Ensuring equity and inclusion
- Protecting data privacy
- Upholding transparency
- Enhancing operational efficiencies
Moving from policy to practice, participants will be introduced to a CETL-designed instructional artefact, featuring a decision tree and scenario-based training tool. This resource is designed to support faculty in navigating complex ethical and pedagogical decisions related to AI use.
Through interactive, discipline-based discussions, faculty will apply the tool to clarify expectations for staff and students while developing course-specific AI policies aligned with institutional governance and ethical principles.
The orientation will conclude with an overview of the support mechanisms available through the Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL), outlining pathways for continued consultation and professional development.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
- Explain the seven operational areas of The UWI AI Policy Framework and apply these principles to responsible AI integration in their teaching, learning, and research contexts.
- Identify appropriate institutional support mechanisms and resources to develop course-specific AI policies aligned with the Framework.
