UWI Mona Campus to Host First Council Meeting of 2026

Event Date(s): 06/03/2026

The 2026 cycle of Annual Council Meetings at The University of the West Indies (UWI) begins Friday, March 6, 2026, at the Mona Campus in Jamaica at 9:00 a.m. (Jamaican Time). The meeting will feature the official presentation of the 2024–2025 Annual Report, offering insights into the university’s performance, priorities, and progress over the past academic year.

The Annual Council Meetings are an important part of the University’s governance framework, providing an opportunity for campus leadership to review institutional performance, assess accountability reports, and engage with regional stakeholders on the strategic direction of the university.

The session will open with a lead presentation by Pro Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Professor Densil Williams. His address will provide an overview of the institution’s key developments during the reporting period, including major research and business initiatives, student enrolment and performance data, and staff and student engagement across the campus.

As part of the UWI’s long-standing commitment to transparency and public accountability, the meeting will be broadcast live via UWItv, allowing members of the public and media to follow the proceedings. Each session concludes with a media Q&A segment, enabling journalists to submit questions through designated interactive channels.
