The Portuguese and Brazilian Studies Section of the Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics, Faculty of Humanities and Education, warmly invites the UWI community to LUSOFESTA 2026, a dynamic, public-facing cultural showcase that explores the powerful intersections of football, culture, and identity across the Lusophone world.

Under this year’s theme, “Football as Culture and Festival across the Lusophone World,” the event highlights how the sport transcends the game itself to become a rich site of expression and connection.

Festival Highlights

Through interactive exhibits, performances, and creative displays, students bring their research to life by exploring football as:

-          A cultural and linguistic expression

-          A social ritual that unites communities

-          A site of identity and belonging

-          A form of music, performance, and celebration
