The Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics (DMLL), Faculty of Humanities and Education, invites the campus community and the wider public to A Night of 3 Mestres: Rhythm. Roots. Romance., a special fundraising concert celebrating Brazilian music, culture and connection.

This unique event pays tribute to three iconic Brazilian masters—Sérgio Mendes, Arlindo Cruz and Djavan—whose music has left a lasting impact on the global soundscape of Brazilian popular music. The concert also commemorates the 60th anniversary of the formation of Brasil ’66, honours the legacy of Arlindo Cruz and celebrates Djavan’s 77th birthday and 50 years of musical hits in 2026.

Patrons can look forward to live performances by Élan Parlé and a talented cast of local artistes, who will bring the rich sounds of samba, bossa nova and Música Popular Brasileira (MPB) to life in an evening of rhythm, nostalgia, and celebration.

Proceeds from the concert will go toward supporting students in Portuguese and Brazilian Studies as they prepare for a cultural and educational trip to Rio de Janeiro and Salvador da Bahia in August 2026.
