The Department of Literary, Cultural and Communication Studies, Faculty of Humanities and Education, The University of the West Indies (UWI), will host The International Media and Communication Conference from June 24–26, 2026, at Lecture Theatre 1, Faculty of Engineering, The UWI St. Augustine Campus.
Convening under the theme “The Digital Nexus: Media and Communication in the Age of AI,” this international conference invites academics, media professionals, students, policymakers, researchers and industry stakeholders to explore the profound transformations within the field. As artificial intelligence reshapes media production, distribution, consumption and governance, the event provides a critical platform for dialogue through Caribbean and Global South perspectives.
Participants will engage in discussions on the opportunities, challenges and futures emerging at the intersection of AI, communication and society. The conference is designed to foster a global exchange of ideas, exploring how AI connects communities and futures both locally and globally.
