Location: The University of The West Indies, St. Augustine Campus
The Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science and Technology, invites the campus community and wider public to participate in the Analytical Instrumentation Workshop from July 7–10 and July 13–14, 2026 at The University of The West Indies, St. Augustine Campus.
Delivered through The UWI Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) programme, this face-to-face workshop provides practical training in three of the most widely used analytical techniques across research, quality control and industrial laboratories:
- Gas Chromatography (GC)
- High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)
- Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS)
Designed for participants with little or no instrumentation experience, as well as those seeking to refresh their knowledge, the workshop combines theory with practical application to build confidence in laboratory analysis.
Participants will learn how to:
- Understand the principles behind GC, HPLC and AAS
- Identify the key components of each analytical instrument
- Develop analytical methods
- Troubleshoot common instrumentation issues
- Apply sound laboratory practices
- Perform sample preparation, sample introduction and data processing
Upon successful completion, participants will receive a UWI Continuing and Professional Education Certificate of Participation.
