The campus community and wider public are invited to deepen their understanding of generative AI through a two-day online workshop hosted by The UWI Department of Literary, Cultural and Communication Studies.

Prompt Engineering: Mastering an Essential AI Literacy Skill will introduce participants to generative AI and large language models, address common misconceptions surrounding the technology and explore the ethical use of AI-generated content.

The workshop combines theory and practice. Day one will focus on the foundations of generative AI, ethical considerations and prompt-engineering frameworks. On day two, participants will apply these principles to professional and operational tasks related to their own fields and industries.

Participants will learn how to:

-         Understand the core concepts behind generative AI and large language models

-         Write clearer, more effective prompts for stronger results

-         Apply prompt-engineering frameworks to real-world tasks

-         Use AI responsibly and ethically

-         Explore creative applications of AI, including animation, design and beginner-friendly coding

-         Adapt generative AI tools to professional needs

Participants who successfully complete the workshop will receive a UWI Continuing and Professional Education Certificate of Participation.
