The Cropper Foundation and Department of Creative and Festival Arts, The University of the West Indies is hosting the Caribbean Creative Writers Workshop. This year the workshop takes place from June 30th to July 20th 2008 in Trinidad at Balandra, with a focus on prose fiction, playwriting and poetry. On Saturday 12th July 2008 at 6:30 pm, all are invited to attend a reading at Arthur’s Restaurant in Balandra. Support for Caribbean writing is an ongoing programme of The Cropper Foundation that seeks to contribute to the development of the Caribbean on many levels and in different areas of interest. The writers' workshop is part of the Foundation's effort to encourage new Caribbean literary voices by providing practical advice on the craft of writing. This is its Fifth Workshop in the series which started in 2000. Writers from Nevis, Montserrat, Bahamas, Jamaica and Trinidad are participating in the workshop, with moderators Professor Funso Aiyejina and Dr. Merle Hodge.
