The Student Engagement Department, Division of Student Services and Development (DSSD) invites first-year students to apply to participate in the 2026 First Year Experience Student Summit: First Year, Your Way | Co-Designing the First-Year Experience on Thursday, October 1, 2026 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the LRC Auditorium.

This interactive, conference-style event will bring together 40 selected first-year students to talk openly about their transition to university life, including what they wish they had known, what incoming students need and what could make the first-year experience better.

More than a discussion, the Summit gives students an opportunity to help shape what comes next. Through facilitated conversations and creative problem-solving, participants will develop ideas and recommendations to strengthen The UWI St. Augustine First Year Experience Programme and contribute to the design of a proposed credit-bearing First-Year Transition Course.

Participants will have the opportunity to:

-          Have a say in shaping the first-year student experience for future Pelicans.

-          Build skills in collaboration, leadership, creative problem-solving and co-design.

-          Connect with other first-year students and share experiences and ideas.

-          Be recognised as one of 40 selected student contributors to the proposed First-Year Transition Course.

-          Receive an official DSSD Certificate of Participation.
