The Department of Public Health and Primary Care, Faculty of Medical Sciences, invites the campus community to the inaugural session of AI4SIDS Conversations on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. via Zoom.
Titled Leveraging AI in Multi-Disciplinary Research: From Problem Identification to Scholarly Publication, the session will feature Professor Emeritus Patrick Hosein (ORTT), Technical Advisor, AI4SIDS Project and will be hosted by Dr Letetia Mary Addison, Principal Investigator, AI4SIDS.
The session will explore how AI can support researchers in identifying and formulating practical problems, developing research-based solutions and translating research into scholarly publications, digital platforms and other applications. Professor Hosein will also examine multidisciplinary collaboration, the role of data and digital infrastructure, and the responsible and critical use of AI throughout the research process.

About AI4SIDS – AI-driven Climate Resilience Platform for Small Island Developing States is a multidisciplinary research and innovation initiative at The UWI St. Augustine Campus exploring responsible, human-centred and locally appropriate uses of AI to support climate-resilient decision-making in Small Island Developing States. The project’s current three-year research-to-impact phase is supported by The UWI Research and Development Impact (RDI) Fund.
