Book Launch | Situating and Safeguarding Young People in the Caribbean

Event Date(s): 13/10/2026

Location: Virtual

The Campus community is invited to the virtual book launch of Situating and Safeguarding Young People in the Caribbean, hosted by Dr. Talia Esnard, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Behavioural Sciences at The UWI St. Augustine Campus.

Published by Policy Press, the interdisciplinary collection brings together the perspectives of poets, academics, policymakers and practitioners to examine the social, psychological and structural challenges facing Caribbean youth today.

The book draws on decolonial and social ecological frameworks to explore approaches to youth safeguarding that reflect the Caribbean context. Importantly, it centres the voices and lived experiences of young people, challenging dominant perspectives and contributing to wider conversations on social justice and safeguarding in the region.
