CETL Workshop | Turning Student Feedback Into Teaching Improvements

Event Date(s): 28/10/2026

Location: Virtual

The Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) invites teaching staff to a virtual workshop focused on interpreting and applying Course Experience Review (CER) results to enhance teaching and learning.

Student feedback provides valuable insights into the learning experience, but understanding what the data reveals and identifying areas for improvement can sometimes be challenging.

This practical workshop will guide participants through the process of accessing, analysing and interpreting CER reports, looking beyond overall ratings to identify meaningful patterns, understand student comments and distinguish actionable feedback from isolated responses.

What You'll Learn

-          Understanding CER Results: Interpret quantitative ratings and qualitative comments to gain a clearer understanding of student feedback.

-          Identifying Patterns and Trends: Recognise recurring themes and insights that may highlight strengths or areas for improvement.

-          Evaluating Feedback: Distinguish between actionable feedback and outlier responses to determine where changes may be most beneficial.

-          Applying CER Insights: Explore practical strategies for using student feedback to improve course design and teaching approaches.

-          Developing an Action Plan: Create a plan for responding to feedback and communicating improvements to students, helping to close the feedback loop.
