School of Advanced Nursing hosts Symposium celebrating launch of Nursing Oncology Programme

The School of Advanced Nursing Education, Faculty of Medical Sciences will host a special symposium celebrating the launch of their new Nursing Oncology Programme on Thursday 11th September, 2008 at Amphitheatre A, Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex. The Symposium will begin at 1:00 p.m. 

Professor Sandra Millon-Underwood PhD, RN of the University of Wisconsin will make a presentation titled “Current Management of Cancer in Women”, while Dr. Terry Mason, Commissioner Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPGH), Illinois will make a presentation on “Current Management of Prostate Cancer”.

Prof. Millon-Underwood has served as an expert consultant in the recruitment of minorities and women into clinical trials to the National Cancer Institute South western Oncology Group and has been appointed by the US President to serve on the National Cancer Advisory Board.

Dr. Mason has served as Chief of Urology at Mercy Hospital and Medical Centre in Chicago and also as Assistant Professor of Urology at the University of Illinois. He has also coordinated a team of professionals in creating and implementing national position strategies for the National Black Leadership Cancer Control Network of Chicago and for medical research.
