The University of the West Indies in collaboration with the World Food Day National Committee will host two events in honour of World Food Day. To highlight issues relevant to the theme “Food Security”, there will be an exposition on Thursday 16th October, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.in the JFK quadrangle. Agricultural and agricultural affiliated organizations will set up booths that focus on:

To commemorate World Food Day and to raise awareness of food security issues, within a human rights context, the Institute of International Relations (IIR) will also be using this opportunity to raise funds for student activities in support of their syllabi. They will be hosting a food festival of prepared dishes, food items prepared on location, information booths, demonstration sites, marketing stand and a gardening shed where “grow your own food” workshops will be conducted.
The second event will be a candle light vigil to mark World Food Day on Tuesday 21st October, 2008 to be held in front of the old Administration Building from 6:00 p.m.
