Reaching Common Ground: Culture, Gender and Human Rights

The Institute of International Relations (IIR), in collaboration with the Centre for Gender and Development Studies, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the United Nations Association of Trinidad and Tobago (UNATT), will host a public launch of the UNFPA Report on the State of the World Population 2008 entitled ‘Reaching Common Ground: Culture, Gender and Human Rights’ on Thursday 20th November, 2008. The launch will be held at the IIR Boardroom from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

Panellists include:

Dr. Gale Rigobert, Lecturer at the IIR and guest editor of the UK-based journal, World Review of Science, Technology and Sustainable Development;

Dr. Johann Geiser, first Director of the United Nations Staff College and United Nations Resident Coordinator with responsibility for Trinidad and Tobago, Suriname and the Netherlands Antilles;

Professor Patricia Mohammed, Professor of Gender and Cultural Studies and Campus Co-ordinator for the School for Graduate Studies and Research UWI; and

Ms. Leah-Mari Richards, Assistant Representative a.i. UNFPA, Sub-Regional Office for the Caribbean-Trinidad and Tobago.
