The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) will continue their Distinguished Lecture Series with a lecture from Mr. Brian Trench, senior lecturer at the School of Communications, Dublin City University, Ireland. Mr. Trench will present the lecture ‘Why science is too important to be left to the scientists’ on Wednesday 26th November, 2008 at the National Library, Audio Visual Room Port of Spain from 7:00 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public. The lecture will seek to discuss how scientific and technological advancements have pervaded every sphere of human life in unprecedented ways. The far-reaching, beneficial impacts of scientific endeavours also bring challenges which citizens of all countries must better comprehend and effectively manage. Greater and more informed awareness by the public of the work of scientists supports the uptake of technological solutions and ensures better decision and policy-making at the individual and collective levels.
