Students pursuing a BA in Theatre Arts at the Department of Creative and Festival Arts, The University of the West Indies, will be staging theatrical presentations for public viewing, as part of the Directing II course.  Presentations will take place on November 27 2008, at Learning Resource Centre, UWI, St. Augustine, from 6:30 pm. Admission is $30.00.

Joel Joefield is directing “Doll’s House” which was written by Henrik Ibsen, noted Norwegian writer. Ibsen is known for having critical views of society through his plays. The setting of “Doll House” is the confines of a middle class Victorian parlour. The play is prominent for highlighting issues of marriage, suppression and feminism. Anne Marie Harry is directing “Ton Beau Capitaine”, written by Simone Schwarz-Bart. Ms. Harry believes this play she has chosen to direct is significant in Trinidad and Tobago as more marriages in our society are ending in fatalities.
