The Department of Creative and Festival Arts will host a ‘Festival of Plays’ on Thursday 27th November, 2008. This production will be held at the Learning Resource Centre, UWI, St. Augustine Campus at 6:30 p.m. This theoretical presentation is being staged by students of the BA in Theater Arts program, as part of their Directing II course.
Mr. Joel Joefield is directing “Doll’s House” which was written by Henrik Ibsen, noted Norwegian writer. Ibsen is known for having critical views of society through his plays. The setting of “Doll's House” is the confines of a middle class Victorian parlour and this play is prominent for highlighting issues of marriage, suppression and feminism.
Ms. Anne Marie Harry is directing “Ton Beau Capitaine”, written by Simone Schwarz-Bart, a noted Caribbean author from Guadeloupe. Ms. Harry believes this play she has chosen to direct is significant in Trinidad and Tobago as more marriages in our society are ending in fatalities.
The Admission Fee for the event is $30 TT.
