The Sustainable Economic Development Unit (SEDU) for Small and Island Developing States (SIDS) will host its annual conference on Friday 27th March, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Saturday 28th March, 2009 from 9:00a.m. to 2:00p.m. This conference will be held at the Faculty of Social Sciences Lounge, UWI, St. Augustine Campus, and will be carried out with the support of the UNESCO Kingston Cluster Office for the Caribbean.
The theme for this conference is “Bridging the Gap between Research and Policy for Sustainable Development in Caribbean Small Island Developing States (SIDS).” This theme reflects the SEDU’s continued efforts to deepen discussions on how research institutions such as SEDU, international organisations such as UNESCO, and national and regional civil society can collaborate to bridge the gap between research and policy so that our countries can meaningfully achieve sustainable development.
