Eating Disorders have been conceptualized and researched in a way that focuses on young Caucasian women from North American.

The Eating Disorders research has been biased against minority women and women from divergent populations.

Eating Disorders occurs much more frequently in males than has been previously thought.

The high risk factors associated with Eating Disorders may be different for Caribbean women than for women from North America and Europe.
