Looking for Home in Home Movies

The Film Programme will host an open session entitled “Looking for Home in Home Movies: the Home Mode in Caribbean and Diaspora First Person Film and Video Practice”. This event will take place on Thursday 19th March 2009. It will be held in Lecture Room 3, South Block Humanities Building, at 1.30 p.m.  The session will be led by Dr. Elspeth Kydd.

 

Dr. Kydd is currently a Senior Lecturer in Film Studies and Video Production at The University of The West of England. She specialises in the integration of theory and practice in film and video, with a particular specialization in documentary. Her work includes the production of several documentaries as well as a Film Studies textbook titled The Critical Practice of Film.  Her current research project deals specifically with home movies and amateur image-making and how they relate to the documenting of national identity and Diaspora experience.
