The 2009 annual conference of the Association of Caribbean Higher Education Administrators will be held in Trinidad and Tobago from July 8 –11, 2009 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Port-of-Spain. The theme of this year’s conference is Higher Education and Sustainable Development. Given the current economic and global challenges, we as a Caribbean people are faced with; the theme is both relevant and timely for us all in the field of higher education.
Some of the areas of interest and sub-themes are:
-Student Engagement: Access, retention and completion: Ensuring student success
-Strategic recruitment and human resource management: Can we compete?
-Creating and maintain sustainable campus communities
-Facilities design and maintenance
-ICTs: Can we afford to be on the cutting edge?
-Safety and security: Making our campuses green
-Breaking the cycle of poverty: Are our Institutions taking on the challenge?
-Curricular relevance, innovation and opportunities
-Governance for sustainable development: What is and what should be?
