“Caribbean Trade and Border Security: Where are we six years later?”

The Business Development Office, in collaboration with The Institute of International Relations (IIR), will host a one-day conference entitled “Caribbean Trade and Border Security: Where are we six years later?” from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. As part of the conference, organisers will host a seminar entitled, “Adapting Border Controls to Provide Global Public Good: A Caribbean Case Study” on Wednesday 31st October, 2007 at the Institute of Critical Thinking, 3rd Floor, Centre for Language Learning (CLL). Registration begins at 9:00 a.m.  

Dr. Stephen Flynn will lecture on “Neighbour to a Vulnerable Superpower: What the next 9/11 Attack Could Mean for the Caribbean” at the Institute of Critical Thinking at 2:00 p.m.  Dr. Flynn is the author of the critically acclaimed The Edge of Disaster: Rebuilding a Resilient Nation.  

Topics for discussion include the effect of the implementation of various new worldwide security procedures on Trinidad and Tobago’s trade and security, and the appropriate strategies to ensure the efficient movement of goods and services. Feature speakers include Prof. Timothy Shaw, Interim Campus Principal, Prof. Bridget Brereton and Prof. Anthony T.
