The International Symposium: “Sex and Sexuality in Latin America and the Caribbean,” will be hosted by NALACS (Netherlands Association of Latin American and Caribbean Studies), in collaboration with JISLAC (Joint Initiative for the Study of Latin America and the Caribbean, UK) and CEDLA (Centre for Latin American Research and Documentation). It will take place on November 26th & 27th in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
Some of the topics that conference papers can address include:
- sex, sexuality and religion
- sexual health including HIV/AIDS
- sexual economies including prostitution, sex work and transactional sex
- transnational sexualities- intersections of ethnicity, gender and sexuality
- sex tourism and human trafficking
- sexual citizenship and gay rights movements
- abortion and reproductive rights
- rape, sexual abuse and sexual harassment
- sexuality, erotica and popular culture
