The Department of Student Services and Development (DSSD) presents the Adopt-A-Student programme whereby staff members of The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine make a monthly contribution to a fund which is used for students needing financial assistance.

About the Adopt-A-Student programme

This is a programme whereby staff members of The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine make a monthly contribution to a fund which is used for students needing financial assistance.

The fund is managed by the office of Division of Student Services and Development. Needy students are identified through other programmes. The process is as follows:

• Students needing assistance can contact the Office of Division of Student Services and Development for an appointment to be interviewed by the Manager of Financial Advisory Services, Division of Student Services and Development
•  Upon the approval, the student will be required to complete an application form;

• A committee will review and consider the applications. The committee will also investigate and interview applicants to determine their financial needs, before making the final selection.

• Students with financial needs who applied for bursaries but were unsuccessful in obtaining a bursary will also be given consideration

• The needs of students placed on the programme, would be reviewed every six (6) months.
