UWI SSC presents the 3rd Annual Maurice Bishop Lecture and Reasoning

The UWI Socialist Student Conference (UWI SSC) presents the 3rd Annual Maurice Bishop Lecture and Reasoning which will examine the topic, Youth Political Empowerment and Action in the Caribbean with featured speaker Henry Charles.

The lecture takes place March 18 from 3 to 5pm at the Institute of Gender and Development Studies (IGDS), Seminar Room. This activity is free and open to the public.

About Youth Political Empowerment and Action in the Caribbean

Mr. Henry Charles will focus on the political empowerment of youth during the Grenada Revolution and the current challenges in advancing youth policy and development work in the region today. 

About Henry Charles

Henry Charles is a PhD candidate in Social Policy at SALISES, UWI St. Augustine Campus and former Regional Director, Commonwealth Youth Programme, Caribbean Centre. He was also Interim Director, Youth Affairs Division at the Commonwealth Secretariat.  Charles is a policy expert in youth development. He has authored and presented several papers on youth empowerment and governance. In addition, he draws on a wealth of experience as a regional activist in youth and Caribbean political movements.  About the UWI Socialist Student Conference The UWI Socialist Student Conference is a reading and political activist organisation established in 2015 at The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus.
