The UWI School of Nursing in collaboration with London South Bank University, PAHO and WHO hosts the International Mental Health Symposium under the theme, No Health Without Mental Health.

Objectives:
The symposium proposes to achieve the following:
- SOLUTIONS / SUPPORT – Facilitate commitment towards collaborative efforts in addressing mental health challenges through solution focused & multi-disciplinary/ multi-sectorial/ support and partnerships
- POLICIES / PRACTICE – Provide participants with evidence based best practices to respond appropriately to mental health challenges among clients;
- Support the development of a workplace culture that enables all members of staff to flourish.
- KNOWLEDGE /SKILLS/TRAINING – Support the development of competence among health and other professionals in responding appropriately to mental health challenges affecting individuals, families and communities. Expose participants to a range of resilience skills development opportunities to enhance clinical practice;
- PROMOTION / PREVENTION – Promote the destigmatization of individuals who experience mental illness; support the development of competence in responding to personal, as well as, societal mental health challenges; to create awareness: promotion and prevention
Outcomes
It is expected that this scientific conference will result in:
- Improving the level of competence among health and other professionals to respond appropriately to mental health challenges affecting individuals, families and communities;
- Improving the level of satisfaction among individuals, families and communities with the quality of care received;
- Improving workplace culture and effective team functioning.
