Semester Employment Applications Open Online

Applications for 2018-2019 Semester Employment are now open. The deadline for applications is October 31 at 4.30pm.

Please read the instructions below CAREFULLY in order to submit your application.

At the end of this email a link titled UWI STA Semester Employment 2018-2019 Application Form is provided for you to access an online semester application form.

Undergraduate Students

  • Undergraduate students are required to complete the form provided in the link at the end of this email.
  • Click on the link and fill out the information as guided.  (You can use Google Chrome if you are having problems with Internet Explorer.)

Postgraduate Students

  • Postgraduate students are required to complete the form provided in the link at the end of this email and ALSO email their résumé to career.place@sta.uwi.edu.
  • Ensure that your résumé is saved as a MS Word file or PDF named FirstnameLastnameProgramme; E.g. JohnDoeMScGlobalStudies
  • In order to qualify for Semester employment you must be a REGISTERED FULL TIME Undergraduate (degree) and Postgraduate student.  Students have until October 31 to finalise their registration status in order to continue working for the academic year.
  • This application qualifies you for employment both ON and OFF campus.  Employment is not a guarantee as it is based on demand and availability.

Rate: Undergraduate students can work NO MORE THAN 12 hours per week at $20 an hour and Postgraduate Students NO MORE THAN 20 hrs. per week at $35 an hour.

Banking Information

  • Students must have a current/active bank account before you become employed.
  • The following banks can facilitate the payments of student assistants: First Citizens Bank Ltd, RBC Royal Bank of T&T Ltd., Republic Bank Ltd, Scotia Bank T&T Ltd, JMMB Bank (Trinidad & Tobago) Ltd, Bank Of Baroda (Trinidad & Tobago) Ltd & UWI credit Union.
  • Ensure that the correct banking information and student ID Number is submitted to your supervisor as soon as you become employed.
  • Incorrect information submitted can cause a delay in payments.
  • Different banks have different time periods and processes for payment.

Queries

  • ALL students with payment queries should liaise with your immediate supervisor.
  • The supervisor will correspond with the Career Department if required.
  • Students are not required to visit the Bursary with queries
  • The Bursary will request a visit by the student if necessary.
