Traffic Restrictions & Postponement of Enforcement of No Thoroughfare Zone

Posted Friday, September 21, 2018

Commencement of stepped-up enforcement of The UWI No Thoroughfare Zone, which had been previously postponed to September 25, pending completion of works at the northern end of Lewis Avenue, is again postponed until further notice, due to non-completion of those works.

In the meanwhile, The UWI Campus Security officers will be conducting increased patrols and security checks, with a view to discouraging intruders and deterring prohibited behaviours, thus enhancing the level of safety and security on campus.  As such, all staff, students and other members of the campus community are asked to cooperate with the security officers and observe the UWI ID Card Policy by wearing their UWI ID Cards at all times while on campus.

Users of the St. Augustine Campus are also advised that the section of Lewis Avenue between the Daaga Gate (opposite Freedom Hall) to the east, and the northern junction of Lewis Avenue with Wooding Drive to the west (opposite the Tennis Courts), will remain closed to all vehicular traffic, and only local vehicular traffic will be allowed in the section of Lewis Avenue between its T-junction near Daaga Auditorium to the north, and its southern junction with Wooding Drive to the south, with access being via the southern end only.

The UWI Campus Security apologises for any inconveniences caused by these restrictions.
