Make a difference, adopt a student

Posted Wednesday, November 07, 2018

The Division of Student Services and Development (DSSD) presents the Adopt-A-Student programme which is geared towards empowering UWI students who are experiencing financial challenges.  The funds towards this programme are donated through the kind monthly contributions of staff members of The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine.

The fund is managed by the office of Division of Student Services and Development. Needy students are identified through other programmes.

Here’s how it works:

Students needing assistance can contact the Office of Division of Student Services and Development for an appointment to be interviewed by the Manager, Financial Advisory Services, Division of Student Services and Development

Upon the approval, the student will be required to complete an application form following which a committee or a designated representative will review and consider the applications. The committee or representative will also investigate and interview applicants to determine their financial needs, before making the final selection.

The needs of students placed on the programme, would be reviewed every six (6) months.

Here’s how you can make a difference in the life of our students:

1.      Fill out the MS Word application form

2.     Decide on how much you are willing to give as your monthly contribution

3.     Once the form is completed, forward to Mr. Ian Moreno, Financial Advisory Services 662-2002 ext. 82100

4.    We will liaise with the Bursary to make the necessary arrangements based on your completed salary deduction form
