About the Sexual Culture of Justice Project

Since April 2017, the three-year TT$1.3 million human rights project, funded by the European Union, has supported collaborations between The UWI IGDS and civil society organisations to build a sexual culture of justice, working with families, teachers, police, researchers, men, community organisers, media and legislators.

  • Six activities, products and participant experiences from the ongoing project will be introduced to the media and public
  • A teacher, and a training developed to make schools safer from gender-based violence and bullying
  • A psychologist who facilitated and developed the Stronger Families support group for parents and guardians with LGBTI family members
  • A labour union organiser, one of the champions of Add All 3, a campaign to expand legislative protection from discrimination;
  • Life stories of working-class LGBTI Trinbagonians
  • The Online Knowledge E-portal making Caribbean resources and data on LGBTI issues available to the public and decision makers;
  • Young men creating local cultures that prevent gender-based violence, and the “Men Speak Up!” videos and “Pull Up Yuh Bredren” campaign they have developed.
