About the Healing Garden

By definition, a therapeutic garden or healing garden is “an outdoor garden space that has been specifically designed to meet the physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs of the people using the garden”.

The Health Services Unit’s therapeutic "Healing Garden Project" kicked-off in July 2016 after receiving full support and commitment from Mrs. Wilma Charles, President, Eastern Horticultural Club and its membership to “grow a healing garden at HSU".  HSU has been working with volunteers from the Eastern Horticulture Club to incorporate all the elements of a sensory healing garden.  The project is geared towards the development of a programme based on acquiring the therapeutic skills and horticultural techniques needed to heal people through horticultural therapy.
