Posted Wednesday, March 20, 2019

The Faculty of Social Sciences presents the Deepening the Dialogue: Strengthening Domestic Violence Policy and Charting a Way Forward Symposium.

The symposium will take place on April 11 from 9am to 3.30pm at the Learning Resource Centre (LRC).

Admission: There is no cost attached to this event.

About the Symposium

Domestic Violence remains a perennial problem in Trinidad and Tobago. While there have been attempts to address this social ill at various levels, a deafening silence remains. The symposium therefore serves as a way of deepening the conversation, of expanding the awareness of this social problem, and, of thinking through the need for action; both in terms of policy and research.

Objectives

  • To raise the level of awareness as it relates to the experiences and social costs of domestic violence.
  • To address some of the gaps that exist both in terms of policy and social research.
  • To discuss some of the key strategies or actions required to address the issue of domestic Violence in Trinidad and Tobago.
